THE HIGH LLAMAS – Here Come The Rattling Trees (Drag City)

Second appearance for Sean O’Hagan in the column, and an unusual step for the band in that this album is comprised of music written for a stage show, and is therefore a mixture of short songs and even briefer orchestral interludes. The lushly arranged pieces on this 27-minute album are all you would expect from the band, though some of the lyrics might not make sense without the context of the actor’s monologues.
